What is the power of the DC fast charging station?

The power of DC fast charging station generally ranges from 15kW, 20kW, 30kW, 40kW, 45kW, 60kW, 80kW, 90kW, 120kW, 160kW, 180kW, 240kW, to 360kW.

They are connected to 380V three-phase voltage. DC fast charging station incorporate modules, while AC charging station do not. Most DC fast charging station nowadays adopt modular combined power, providing more flexible benefits, allowing users to freely combine the power of DC fast charging station according to their needs.

Regarding the issue of the charging speed and time of DC fast charging stations, it is commonly misunderstood that the larger the power of the DC fast charging station, the faster the charging speed and the shorter the charging time. However, this is not necessarily the case. The charging speed and time depend not only on the power of the DC fast charging station but also on the electric vehicles being charged. Just like eating with a large bowl or a small bowl, the speed is not significantly different for the same person.

Each electric vehicle has a different maximum allowable charging current, meaning their demand power varies. Although some EVs initially had 15kW or 30kW, most modern ones can now reach over 60kW.

For instance, if an EV with a maximum demand charging power of 30kW charges on a 120kW charging station, the actual maximum charging power will only be 30kW. In addition, even under the maximum charging power of 30kw, the battery management system (BMS system) of EVs is limited by various factors such as its own battery balance under different ambient temperatures. In different states, the BMS of EVs tells the DC fast charging station to output different current, so the charging rate is also different.
